Limited Edition Fine Art Prints
Thank you for your interest in my work. By purchasing a print, you directly contribute to the creation of photographs that seek to instill a sense of wonder, humility, and awe at the parts of our world as they are, as well as their ability to serve as portals to other worlds not so different from our own.
I believe in the photograph as a physical object; something that can be touched and inspected, held, and existed alongside in a way that data on a screen or machine-imagined imagery can’t.
All prints are available in limited editions. Once a size is sold out, prints of that size will not be made again. Some prints are only available for a limited time, so check back often to see if a date has been set for removal, and to see new images as I make them available.
10% of all purchases go to support The Nature Conservancy, an environmental non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of natural habitats and biodiversity. The Nature Conservancy engages in projects ranging from land and water conservation to sustainable resource management, aiming to create a healthier and more sustainable planet for future generations.
Prints are made either by myself when size permits and when stationary, or by Robert Bullivant of Bullivant Gallery and Consulting. Robert is a master printer and close friend of mine who I’ve trusted with my work for years.
Because I live on the road I’m not able to sign every print. However, each print is fixed with a holographic sticker on verso with a serial number. I place a matching serial numbered sticker on a certificate of authenticity showing the piece, printer, year photographed, title, edition, and my own signature which is then sent to the buyer. Often this certificate is included behind the print when framed but can also be stored or displayed separately.

“I found Zac’s art during the pandemic. It was a difficult time working from home, homeschooling from home, and this photograph, this powerful rock formation, reminded me of my inner strength. Zac is brilliant in the way he captures the energy of a landscape.”
“Zac’s photography has captivated me with its vibrant hues, evocative moods, and unusual presentation of natural spaces. I’ve been a long time admirer and I’m thrilled to now have a print of my own...”

Concave, 2023
From the Reciprocal series.
At the terminator, where day gives way to night, uncommon sand dunes of milky white gypsum silently reflect the atmosphere's ephemeral conversion. Between the dunes, the experience of this transition is a mesmerizing one. Slow at first, sections of the sky and ground appear to merge. Fine and subtle pastel colors cover the dune field, seemingly emanating from both above and below. No sound moves through the air. Softness smothers the senses. Eyes search for the horizon as up and down fold into one. If there ever was a place in which ideas transcend their bony cages, it is here, riding the ever transient border between light and its absence.

CMYK Canyon, 2021
This piece is a distillation of what I love most about making photographs in the landscape. Unsure of what I would find, I elected to hike into an unmarked canyon in the California desert. On discovering this exposed section of iron oxide and chlorite, I felt a sense of overwhelming gratitude for having curiosity rewarded.

Star Scraper, 2023
From the “Universal Desert” series, which was officially nominated in the 2022 International Photo Awards.
We live on a rocky world. Its surface supports our weight and allows us to move over, across, and around it. Geological processes, obligated by the universal laws of physics, wrench and thrash on a planetary scale to shape, destroy, and remake this surface and its constituent metals and minerals into irregular forms through great gravity, pressure, and heat. Other rocky worlds, neighbors though still alien, have, too, been molded by processes leading to uneven and unique topographical features, fashioned with familiar yet still strange landscapes. Sharing largely the same ingredients, equipped with wind whipped atmospheres and common elements forged from the same fire, our badlands are not unlike their badlands. When we understand the barren parts of our world, we understand, at least in part, a Universal Desert.

Celestial Aperture, 2023
Our relationship to astronomical objects is not often made apparent. Occasionally, we are confronted with the immense scale of the spatial relationships in our skies and reminded we are a passengers in a strange cosmic balancing act. In Celestial Aperture, I sought to convey the viewer as an intrinsic element in the photograph by capturing the eclipse through a gap in a sandstone formation, hiking 20 miles over 2 days to find the right location. The grounding effect of the blurred foreground cements the viewer of the photograph as an observer witnessing a transcendent event that has had great significance in every human culture that has witnessed it. Captured from the same vantage point in quick succession, several photographs were stacked to portray the occultation over time, resulting in an image that invites viewers to recognize and consider our unique position in space.

Dragon Skin, 2021
The Earth, in one of its most basic forms. Long cooled molten rock from deep inside the planet sits exposed to the surface. Walking through this landscape and its dead silence, it is not difficult to imagine being the first to tread on an alien surface. It is odd that such scenes appear so otherworldly, when in fact they are a more intimate look at our own. The volcanic basalt, having been broken, disrupted, launched, lifted, and fractured by shifting Earth over geological timescales, are not very unlike waves crashing in an angry sea frozen in time. The rock, kissed with ice on its windward side from freezing fog, takes on the form of a violent wave as if whipped by wind and rain.
From the “Basaltic Tempest” series, which received a nomination in the 7th Fine Art Photography Awards.
