OA Film Arts Camp

I recently had the privilege of contributing work to a local film camp to be used as inspiration material. Run by some close friends, the Opelika-Auburn Film Arts Collective is in its third year providing a no-budget summer film workshop for local teenagers. The goal is to guide young filmmakers into creating a no-budget short film within the span of a week.

This year 5 local artists were asked to provide work in a gallery setting which would serve as inspiration for the short films. Students could take whatever inspiration they wanted from the work, using it as a jumping off point for their own creation.

Created by JD Higginbotham, Onyx Wells, Silas Cherry, and Ariana Mccabe, “Ad Nauseam” is the result of the filmmaker’s takeaway from the images I shared, including selected images from my recently published series “Palimpsest.” It was great listening to the insightful responses to the source material and watching these young filmmakers produce a no-budget film in such a limited time.
